BS 25999-2 Foundations Part 1: Business Impact Analysis

Why is business impact analysis important?

Without business impact analysis (BIA) you wouldn't know the recovery time objective (RTO), necessary people, IT infrastructure, and external parties for the recovery, critical data that is used by the critical activities, etc.

In other words, you wouldn't have any important information for enabling your business continuity, and you would build your response and recovery on a completely wrong basis. Therefore, BIA is the main source for developing a business continuity strategy, which sets the ground for developing incident response and business continuity / disaster recovery plans.

BIA is done right after the BCM Policy is defined – it is the first big step in your BCM implementation, and enables you to extract the business requirements from the business side of the organization.

Register for this webinar to learn:

  • Terminology – what is RTO, RPO, MTPD, BCM, DR, BCP etc.
  • BS 25999-2 requirements for business impact analysis (clause 4.1.1)
  • Where does BIA fit in BCM process
  • What steps are needed to implement BIA in your organization – how to collect the data, who has to do what etc.
